The laser show that never happened

Although it is hard to make out (take notice of my mention of lousy camera phone photos in a post below!), this is a photo of the side of Stone Mountain.

If you look closely, you will notice that there isn't a laser in sight.

Since the lack of lasers was even more frustrating than the fact that all the restaurants and stores weren't open, I think I will save my rant for another post.

It will most likely be titled...

Stone Mountain stinks! ;)

Was our friend KT here?

I know that our friend, KT, has family in the Atlanta area. Could she have possibly hiked the same trail that we did? ;)

Another view

After coming home and viewing these photos, I've decided that I would really love a new phone with better photo taking capabilities-LOL!

For now though, you'll have to just imagine how lovely this really was.

Yellow daisies in the wild

After climbing up a large hill, we were greeted by a most beautiful sight. There were clumps of the Confederate Yellow Daisy, of which the festival is named after, tucked away in the outcroppings of granite.

This photo just does not do it justice!

Hiking

We had planned to stay in the park after the festival to watch Stone Mountain's 'Laser Show Spectacular'. Unfortunately, the restaurants and shops that were supposed to stay open up until the show began were closed.

We were a little frustrated about that, considering that we had a couple of hours to wait. After looking at the map, we learned that there was a playground on the other side of the mountain with a trail that led to it.

Daisies

As we walked out of the festival, we noticed this really cool artwork. I, for one, think it makes a wonderful backdrop!

Deep fried goodness

There weren't any posted signs about not sharing photos of our adventures in eating, so I know I was safe capturing this moment in time. ;)

Renee decided to enjoy funnel cake, which is one of her most favorite things...ever!

And although Mark looks a little unsure about trying the deep fried snickers bar dusted in powdered sugar, I am happy to report that he loved it. If his fingers weren't so covered in chocolate, I'm sure that he would have given it a huge thumbs up!

5 o'clock somewhere

Unfortunately, there will be no more funny photos from our time walking the paths. I learned that taking photos at one of these huge craft shows is a big no-no, and I didn't want to get yelled at.

My intentions were completely innocent. I really just wanted to share things that made us laugh, or possibly reminded us of someone.

For others though, their plan was to take photos to steal ideas. Being a crafter myself, I can understand how this would be upsetting.

So, to avoid any heated conversations, I chose to stay on the good side of the law. I just took a mental photo instead. ;)

Yellow Daisy Festival

This year, Stone Mountain Park was celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Yellow Daisy Festival. This is a four day arts and crafts festival featuring artists from all over the United States, and we decided to visit on the last day.

I guess after 40 years they have figured out how to do things right. The vendors were on either side of a nice shaded pathway. This was a blessing in the ninety degree heat!
